Review: Is the famous market Erewhon Worth it?

Erewhon, a Los Angeles based grocery store, has garnered nation-wide attention in the past year on Social Media Platforms for its celebrity faced marketing and ostentatious pricing. Definitely unique, Erewhon offers many options for shoppers, from smoothies to preprepared food items, regular grocer items and combo plates - customers will never feel underwhelmed. Recently, I had the privilege of witnessing the wonders of a market that is taking the world by storm for myself.

Obsessively organized to the utmost perfection, fruits and vegetables are preselected and cut in respective containers making everything easier for customers.

Appraised for its commitment to nutrition, I was utterly amazed by Erewhon’s selection of every “healthy” grocer item displayed in store, and the way in which every single one of these items were aesthetically appealing. However, my purpose in journeying to Erewhon was not to buy groceries but to try their preprepared foods and smoothies.

Erewhon’s chic styled cafeteria combo-plate allows you to pick whatever food items from the cafe you want. In my combo-plate I chose the rotisserie chicken, spicy organic buffalo cauliflower, and rice. The rotisserie chicken and rice tasted nothing special. However, the buffalo cauliflower was the highlight of my lunch. Cooked to a perfect crispiness, the cauliflowers texture and kick of spice complimented one another and left me craving for more.

Next, I tried what first garnered so much traction to Erewhon: the Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie. The smoothie, praised by many for being one of the bests, left me curious to see if it truly was. Indeed, it was not (especially for twenty, jaw drop dropping dollars). The cream in the smoothie cancelled out the other flavors, and left it, in a sense, tasteless.

Although I was expecting to like the food and smoothie from Erewhon more, the overall experience and atmosphere is one in which is unparalleled. In my opinion, the best way to experience Erewhon is by walking around the store itself and finding yourself awe-struck at every corner instead of eating the food. While I must admit the food was pretty good, it was definetly not very good and especially not palatable enough to justify spending an overall $45 on.
