Review: Sanguich - “Worlds Best Cuban Sandwich”

Written by Margaret Lavin

Ever since I can remember, my family and I have been coming to Miami. Some of my fondest memories are spending time in the warm Miami waters, and playing tennis in the blazing heat. However, up until recently, I lacked an appreciation of the culture within Miami.

On my most recent trip to Miami, I wanted to experience the Miami I did not know. Upon researching, I found that over half of Miami's population is comprised of Cuban Americans. This statistic was so suprising to me that I felt obligated to explore Little Havana, and try a Cuban Sandwich for the first time.

I was greeted in Little Havana with bright colors and various pieces of elaborate artwork

My main reason for going to Little Havana was to try the Cuban Sandwich from Sanguich De Miami, a Cuban Restauraunt.

From the second a walked in, I was greeted with appealing aromas, and a menu on the wall. (below is a picture of the menu)

I appreciated how there were descriptions of the ingredients within the sandwich, while also keeping with the Cuban names above the descriptions.

I decided to try the "Sanguich De Miami" which consists of turkey, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, hand - cut bacon and mayo on cuban bread. The wait for the sandwich was a little less than ten minutes.

Upon receiving the sandwich, I was impressed with the designs on the paper covering the sandwich.

Once uncovering the sandwich, I was satisfied with the look of how each ingredient complimented one another.

After taking the first bite of the sandwich, I was amazed with the crispiness yet softness of the cuban bread. All of the flavors worked together in unison, I was experiencing flavors I had not been exposed to before. Truly, this sandwich was one of the best I had ever put into my mouth.

My experience in Little Havana was very eye opening, and from this experience I have learned that in order to develop a deeper appreciation for cities, towns and countries you must immerse yourself in the cultures.

I highly recommend Sanguich!!
